    Sharjah Municipality deploys 65 community service patrols to rain-affected areas – UAE

    Sharjah Municipality is continuing its efforts to mitigate the impact of heavy rainfall in the region, deploying 65 community service patrols to rain-affected areas.

    The municipality employs all available resources, including its vehicle fleet, to minimise damage, improve traffic flow, and ensure the safety of residents and their belongings. A dedicated team is working round-the-clock to conduct fieldwork across all regions of Sharjah.

    Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director-General of SM and Head of the High Committee for Rain Emergencies, underscored the municipality’s commitment to dealing with significant water accumulations caused by heavy rainfall. He commends the municipality’s swift response of mobilising committees and staff and declaring a state of emergency to effectively manage the situation.

    Al Tunaiji highlighted the municipality’s proactive measures, including deploying field teams and 65 patrols to undertake essential communal and humanitarian tasks. These efforts involve aiding affected families in reaching authorised shelters, assisting stranded individuals in waterlogged areas, clearing obstructed vehicles, and providing support to vulnerable groups such as the elderly and others in need within the community.

    Abu Dhabi(News Desk):: ADNEC Group has announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tadweer Group to establish a framework for strengthened collaboration in waste management and sustainability practices.

    The MoU will cover a range of activities including the introduction of expanded waste management systems and solutions. ADNEC Group and Tadweer Group will also advocate for sustainable practices and seek to leverage the value of waste by encouraging responsible behaviour through awareness campaigns and initiatives.

    The agreement also includes provisions for the design and implementation of recycling stations to encourage practicing segregation at source. This involves the deployment of newly designed Recycling Vending Machines (RVM) led by Tadweer Group and the implementation of the Tadweer Rewards system. Additionally, the agreement also covers food waste processing through waste master and anaerobic digesters as well as the adoption of other innovative technologies.

     President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has reaffirmed that the safety and security of citizens and residents is the top priority of the UAE government. His Highness also expressed his appreciation for the level of awareness and responsibility demonstrated by people during the adverse weather conditions witnessed recently across the country.

    His Highness has directed the concerned authorities to quickly work on studying the condition of infrastructure throughout the UAE and to limit the damage caused after the country witnessed its heaviest rainfall on record.

    The UAE President also directed that the necessary support be provided to all families impacted by the severe weather, ordering the transfer of affected families to safe locations in cooperation with local authorities.

    His Highness Sheikh Mohamed expressed his appreciation to members of the national and local emergency and crisis teams and various authorities in managing rescue and evacuation operations during the unprecedented conditions, which had a positive impact on preserving lives and property. His Highness also highlighted on the deep appreciation to the spirit of solidarity portrayed by the UAE community during the weather conditions, noting it to be a true essence of the UAE identity.

    The Dubai Government announced that it has extended remote work for employees across all its entities on Thursday, 18th April 2024, and Friday, 19th April 2024. This applies to all government employees in Dubai, except for roles that need on-site presence at the workplace.

    The decision to extend the remote working period was made to facilitate the work of field teams in response to the severe weather conditions in the past two days. All relevant authorities in Dubai have intensified their efforts to mitigate the situation resulting from the heavy rainfall.

    Additionally, private schools in Dubai will continue with distance learning for the next two days, Thursday and Friday, to ensure everyone’s safety and allow schools time to prepare for the return of students for in-person classes early next week.

    The Ministry of Interior (MoI), in collaboration with the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, the National Centre of Meteorology, and strategic partners, has announced the end of the weather fluctuations, with rainfall stopping and weather conditions gradually improving.

    MoI highlighted the efforts of the field teams that worked in a preventive manner and will continue to work diligently until full recovery. The Supreme Committee for Internal Security remained in constant session during the weather conditions to ensure rapid response and guarantee business continuity. All emergency response teams, including the civil defence, ambulance, rescue and Police patrol will continue to work to secure roads and areas with fast-moving streams, valleys and dam exits. The teams are working to manage traffic and clear the rainwater until full restoration of normal life in all civil facilities.

    The Ministry expressed deep appreciation to the role of the concerned authorities in dealing with the weather fluctuations, highlighting their contribution in reducing the repercussions of the unusual weather conditions through a proactive and professional integrated response that ensured the protection of lives and properties and enhanced society’s stability and safety.

    The Ministry praised the positive role of social responsibility reflected in the public’s awareness during the weather fluctuations as they put their trust in government bodies to deal with emergency weather conditions and received updates through official state channels. Emphasis was made on the importance of continuing to adhere to the instructions issued by the official authorities and staying clear from stream valleys and water accumulations.

    Dubai Tram Operates According to Regular Schedule; Dubai Roads Clarify Metro Stations Operating on Green Line Currently – UAE

    The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has clarified that the Dubai Metro’s Green Line is currently operational at the following stations: from Etisalat Station to Abu Hail Station, and from Al Khor Station to Al Ras Station. It is noted that bus services have been provided for affected stations. Additionally, the Red Line is currently operational at the following stations: from Centrepoint Station to GGICO Station, from Burjuman Station to World Trade Centre Station, and from Jebel Ali Station to Expo 2020 Station. Bus services have also been provided for affected stations.

    The RTA has urged the public to refer to the Dubai Metro stations map on its official website rta.ae for further information. Furthermore, the authority clarified that the Dubai Tram operates normally according to its regular schedule.
