AbuDhabi(News Desk)::The General Command of Abu Dhabi Police launched the seventh edition of its awareness campaign “Our Winter is Safe and Enjoyable” which will last for two months in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority and strategic partners, with the aim of enhancing preventive awareness among the public during the winter season and adhering to the laws and regulations that have been put in place for their safety and the safety of everyone.

The campaign targets all segments of society and focuses on raising awareness through Abu Dhabi Police social media platforms and media partners, by publishing press releases, television and radio interviews that include visual and audio messages, distributing educational publications and brochures in the field, and holding councils that host specialists in this field, in addition to raising awareness of suffocation incidents and fires resulting from heating devices.

The campaign focuses on several axes, including enhancing security, safety and positivity in wilderness areas, maintaining public safety, avoiding negative and dangerous behaviors and noise, educating families about adhering to preventive measures to protect children from falling from residential buildings, and constant monitoring when they approach windows, and the dangers of leaving furniture adjacent to windows to avoid children using them, which leads to tragic falling accidents, and intensifying supervision of children during the winter vacation period, not being distracted from them, and protecting them from the risks of blackmail and abuse via social media and electronic games, such as bullying, threats and harassment, and protecting them from being lured into sharing their photos and data and involving them in immoral activities.

The campaign calls for enhancing efforts to provide safety and protect young people from the dangers of using motorcycles without personal protective equipment or driving them recklessly, in order to avoid serious traffic accidents that result in deaths and serious injuries that often lead to disability.

The campaign calls on users of electric and bicycles to adhere to the designated paths and parks, stay away from areas crowded with vehicles, not to drive in the opposite direction, wear a helmet and use protective covers for the arms and knees, provide the bike with a white front light and a red rear light, place a reflective rear plate to alert road users, and not carry weights that affect the bike user’s balance.

The campaign urges parents to protect their children from using violent electronic games, which incite children and adolescents to aggression and commit crimes. It stresses the need for parents to play their important role in following up and monitoring their children and intervening in choosing electronic games and applications with good and harmless content.
