Ethical procurement is crucial in the interconnected and global economy

Dubai(News Desk):: Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) has become the first Pakistani company to receive the Corporate Ethical Procurement Award from the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS). The supply chain management department at MPCL has achieved a significant milestone by securing this award and it marks an historic moment for the company.

As ethical procurement’s importance grows in today’s world, it is vital that procurement teams work towards implementing and maintaining ethical processes. MPCL has demonstrated its commitment to ethical practices across three key areas; combating fraud, bribery and corruption, human rights and environment and sustainability

“Sustainable procurement is very much driven by three factors; the growing global environmental concern, the amplified emphasis on ethics and social responsibility in business, and the economic advantages and risk mitigation bolstered by sustainable business practices. The need for businesses to escalate their ethical practices cannot be reiterated enough. It is wonderful to see MPCL’s relentless pursuit to uphold ethical standards and it is testament to its visionary leadership,” said Sam Achampong, CIPS MENA, Managing Director.

“I am thrilled that our dedicated supply chain management department has achieved the prestigious Corporate Ethical Procurement & Supply Award. This accomplishment makes me personally very proud as it demonstrates MPCL’s unwavering dedication to ethical practices and sustainability. Being the first organisation in Pakistan to receive this award is significant. Gaining recognition from such a reputed professional body as CIPS makes this accolade even more meaningful as it validates the hard work of the entire team who have diligently advocated these values,” Faheem Haider, MD/CEO, MPCL comments.

CIPS is the largest global professional body for training and skills development for procurement and supply chain management. The CIPS Ethical Procurement and Supply eLearning and test has been recently updated and renewed to provide quality learning and guidance for organisations concerned about preventing unethical practices in their supply chains. Developed for all levels of procurement professionals, the programme and test enable individuals and organisations to hone their skills and knowledge and ultimately demonstrate their commitment to ethical practice.

Organisations that achieve the ethics mark are included in the CIPS Corporate Ethics Register, which includes organisations from various sectors and organisations around the globe. Sign up your procurement and supply management team to take the test.– ends –
