    Erfoud(News Desk)::In a new achievement added to its impressive record of promoting the dates sector, the United Arab Emirates won the Best Pavilion Award at the 13th International Date Palm Forum 2024, which was held in the city of Erfoud in the Kingdom of Morocco. H.E. Sheikh NahayanMabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, dedicated the UAE Pavilion’s first-place wining at the Erfoud International Date Palm Forum to H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, in appreciation of His Highness’s continuous support for the date palm cultivation and production sector at the national, regional and international levels.

    This came in a press statement by H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, following the announcement of the UAE Pavilion winning infirst place for the Best and Most Luxurious International Pavilion Award at the forum for the thirteenth consecutive time, among the countries participating in the 13th International Date Palm Forum in Erfoud, Kingdom of Morocco, on Thursday, October 31, 2024, in the presence of Dr. Bashir Saud, Advisor to the Moroccan Minister of Agriculture and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Forum, Mr. Mehdi Rifi, Director General of the Agricultural Development Agency, Mr. Jamal Mimouni, Regional Director of Agricultural Investment for Draa-Tafilalet, and Mr. Kamal Al Mahasni, Director of the Barfoud Oasis Development Agency.

    This forum hosted at the city of Erfoud, in the Errachidia region, Kingdom of Morocco, during the period October 29 to November 3, 2024, under the generous patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, King of the Kingdom of Morocco. The forum was inaugurated by H.E. Ahmed Bouari, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests.

    Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid, Award’s Secretary General, stressed that the UAE pavilion this year was distinguished by presenting a variety of luxury dates and innovative solutions to develop the date industry, in addition to highlighting the modern agricultural techniques adopted by the country to increase date palm productivity and maintain the high quality of Emirati dates. The UAE pavilion was not limited to displaying products only, but also included interactive displays and workshops that focused on innovation and sustainable techniques in date palm cultivation. The pavilion also offered visitors the opportunity to taste Emirati dates, which were widely praised by the attendees.

    The Award’s Secretary General also added that with this win, the UAE strengthens its leadership in the global dates market, expressing its desire to enhance cooperation with date-producing countries and exchange expertise, which contributes to developing the sector and achieving its sustainability for future generations. The UAE continues its commitment to innovation in date palm cultivation and developing this sector in line with its vision to achieve sustainable agricultural development.

    Karachi(News Desk):: His Excellency Murad Ali  Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, inaugurated the First Pakistan International Date Palm Festival, in the presence H.E.Kamran Tessori, Governor of Sindh and H.E. Mr. Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al Zaabi, United Arab Emirates Ambassador in Islamabad, and Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid, Prof., Secretary General of Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, and a number of members of the diplomatic corps, experts and specialists in field of date palm cultivation and production in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

    His Excellency Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh, expressed his happiness for the existing cooperation between the two countries, the UAE  and Pakistan, at various levels. His Excellency also extended his thanks and appreciation to H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, for his support to organize such festival, in order to develop the date palm cultivation and production sector in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. His
    Excellency also expressed his hope that this Festival would be the beginning of a fruitful cooperation between the Ministry of National Food Security and Research in Pakistan and the General Secretariat of Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, to enhance food security and achieve sustainable development.

    From his side, H.E. Mr. Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al Zaabi, highlighted the fact that the First Pakistan International Date Palm Festival, confirms the depth of the bilateral ties between the two brotherly countries, under the  wise leadership of H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President
    of the United Arab Emirates, “May God Protect him”, and his brother,Shahbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

    His Excellency also referred to the efforts of the Award’s General Secretariat in fulfilling the vision of the wise leadership in developing the date palm cultivation and production sector at the national, regional and
    international levels, which contributed to strengthening the UAEs leading position in this sector. While highlighting the vital role played by the Award over seventeen years of continuous success through organizing a series of  international date conferences and a series of date festivals in a number of
    date-producing countries.
    Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid, Secretary General of Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, pointed out that the Award has achieved tangible success in organizing the series of date festivals  exceeding fifty-six festivals in the United Arab Emirates, Arab Republic of Egypt, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Republic of Sudan, Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Kingdom of Morocco, United Mexican States, and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. This confirms the international standing of the Award
    and its ongoing important role as a platform for building partnerships in the development, production, processing and marketing of dates, while ensuring the development of this sector, thanks to the wise directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab emirates, May God protect him, and the continuous support of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, and the close follow-up of
    H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Chairman of the Award’s Board of Trustees.

    Dr. A. Zaid also added that the festival, like other festivals organized by the Award, includes a Pakistani dates competition in which 85 date farmers and producers representing all regions of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan participated. The festival also includes an international dates exhibition with wide participation from farmers, producers, manufacturers, exporters and traders of dates in Pakistan, where their number reached 145 exhibitors, representing the following countries: United Arab Emirates, Arab Republic
    of Egypt, Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Kingdom of Morocco, United Mexican States, and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, in addition to a scientific symposium accompanying the festival in which 17 international researchers and experts specialized in date palm cultivation and production.

    AbuDhabi(News Desk)::Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation General Secretariat, announces the winners of the “Date Palm International Poetry” competition, in its 8th Session (2024), which is held under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of  tolerance and Coexistence, Chairman of the Award’s Board of Trustees.

    First Category (Official Arabic) results are as follows:

    • First Place: Bakr Awadh Awad Al-Saadat Al Mzayda
    • Second Place: Zakaria Tawfiq Ismail Attia
    • Third Place: Micheal Mohamed Al-Eid

     Second Category (Nabatti) results are as follows:

    • First Place: Atiq Khalfan Al Kaabi
    • Second Place: Muzna Rabie Mubarak Al-Braiki
    • Third Place: Obaid Mubarak Khalfan Al Mazrouei

     The total number of participants in the competition in its 8th Session was 277 poets, from 19 countries, who wrote their poems in the official Arabic language and the Nabatti style in the love of the date palm tree and its impact. This announcement was made in a press statement by Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid, Award’s Secretary-General, after receiving the results of the poetry evaluation by the jury specializing in Nabatti poetry and literary criticism. It includes the poet and journalist Aidha bin Masoud, the poet and journalist Hamdan bin Sarroukh Al-Darei, and the poet and critic Sameh Ahmed Kaoush. The methodology of the jury’s work is summed up in evaluating the level of poets and the quality of their poetic texts in classical and Nabati styles, based on aesthetic and rhetorical standards such as innovation and novelty in description, and the idea, as well as enriching the topic and graphic images. Poetics and creative refinements, in addition to linguistic, grammatical and musical standards, such as external music, r and rhyme, the structure of the poem, and its objective and organic unity.

    The Award’s Secretary General also added that the “Date Palm International Poetry” competition aims to employ Nabatti poetry as an important mean in developing public awareness of the importance of the date palm tree in terms of heritage, agriculture, food and economy. This also helps in promoting the culture of date palm to revive one of the purposes of poetry and provide the Arab library and the poetry scene with a distinctive quality of poems in the love of the date palm tree, and encourage poets to create and write quality poems and allow everyone to compete in a transparent way.(END).

Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Chairman of the Award’s Board of Trustees, where the results were as follows:

    It was announced in a press statement made by Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid, Secretary General of Khalifa International Award for Date Palm  Agricultural Innovation, expressing his happiness for what the competition has achieved during the past fifteen years, which helped enhance the human relationship with the date palm tree using the photography art as a mean of developing the public awareness on the importance of the Date palm tree. Where this also created a space for the exchange of experiences between  photographers from all over the world. Highlighting the tourism, environmental and
    heritage components of the date palm tree, through the photographic pictures, and encouraging the human connection with the earth and the environment.
    The Fifteenth session of the competition was remarkable by the participation of 144 photographers, representing 23 countries, where the number of participating photos reached 483 beautiful pictures, that expressed the photographers love and close relationship with the blessed tree.

    A qualitative leap and big steps
    The Award’s Secretary General then added that the Award has made great achievements since its inception, as it has achieved a leading position, where it is the first award of its kind in the world, thanks to the generous patronage and continuous support of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court, and close follow-up of H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Chairman of the
    Award’s Board of Trustees. Pointing out that the Award’s Sixteenth session did gain the
    participation of 74 researchers, representing 18 countries.
    Award’s International statistics
    From his side, Dr. Helal Humaid Saed Al Kaabi, member of the Award’s Board of Trustees, indicated that the Award’s Sixteenth session was distinguished by a set of keybpoints, as follows:
    1. The number of applicants reached 74 candidates, representing 18 countries frombacross the world.
    2. The number of Emirati applicants to the International Award reached 11 candidates, i.e.15 %, where the highest participation rate was to the “Agricultural Innovation” category.

    3. The number of applicants to the International Award from the Arab countries, reachedb 67 candidates, i.e. 90.5%, where the highest participation rate was to the “Distinguished
    studies and modern technology” category.
    4. The number of applicants to the International Award from the rest of the world reached
    7 candidates, i.e. 9.5%, where the highest participation rate was to the “Development projects” category, and the “Agricultural Innovation” category.
    In general, the “Distinguished Studies and Modern Technology” category, recorded as usual the highest participation rate among the Award’s categories, over the past sessions, as the percentage of participants in this category reached 38%, while the “Agricultural Innovation” category recorded 29.7% participations, the “Development Projects” category recorded 13.5%, the “Distinguished Personality” category 12.1%, and
    the “Distinguished Producers” category recorded 6.7% of the participations.
